Merry Christmas

We say it all season long, Merry Christmas, but what are we saying. Do we want to wish the person happiness, a blessing, or just a greeting?  Merry speaks for it self, to be merry is to be feeling good, enjoying life an be actively involved in living. Christmas speaks of Christ, the son of God. To focus on His birth and rejoice in that birth.

There are many people in this season who are not merry, they are over burdened with the challenges of life, dealing with sorrow , coping with disease, trouble in the family or having no family.  How can you be merry when things are weighing you down?  You can't if you are honest. Life is not always merry but to says Merry Christmas is to focus on the Christ child, to take your mind away from the sorrow of life and remember there is hope in Christ. He is a gift from God, and He did give us salvation. Salvation is freedom from sin through repenting of your sin and accepting Jesus death on the cross as punishment for your sin. When you focus on Christ it might not make you want to do cartwheels but it give you something good to think about. And it can be the best christmas present you will ever receive when you accept him as your Lord and Savior.
